When 34 years old, Detroit native Mary Coesens Demroske moved to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Lake Superior State University was the site of her main art studies.
This Great Lakes Region maritime oil painter has taken many awards for her paintings of freighters, tugs, and lighthouses. Her present home is with her husband, in Brimley, Michigan.
Demroske enriches her creative process with historical research as well as technical studies. Also it is obvious that her social skills have linked her up constructively with numerous regional ship owners, captains, mates, crew, and coast guard. As a result she has enjoyed a few trips on board–and boosted her work’s authenticity!
