An honest man who does honest work: meet Alaska artist Robert Tandecki! While bright, warm color palettes are very popular, they usually not very realistic for ocean scenes of the Pacific Northwest. This seasoned watercolor veteran tells the truth but in a beautiful way.
He and I share a love of marine subjects–fishing boats, tugboats, and the like–and I have long been a fan. Amazingly, tugboat love has brought him the “Foss Calendar Competition” prize 12 times! His work is part of the current American Society of Maritime Artists traveling national exhibit. And he travels Alaska by boat, serving as guest artist for ‘Cruise West’ Gold Rush Tours.
Tandecki can be especially proud of his numerous honors and awards from the various Arts for the Parks competitions, which are very competitive indeed! His website Robert Tandecki Art sells numerous prints of his most popular paintings.
