Brian Blood, ‘Tugboat Buddies,’ oil

This northern California resident is really a New England transplant! Now flourishing in the West, Brian Blood paints in a traditional technique with warm, bright palette of oils and is deeply committed to the plein air [on site] method.

Blood began with a graphic art career in Boston but migrated to San Francisco, to scenic painting and art instruction. He graduated from the new Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

His pleasing and traditional approach continues to bring him students as well as sales. While he does not identify as a maritime or marine painter, his voracious appetite for typical western subjects often take him to coasts and harbors, it seems.

Regional media like Southwest Art, Art of the West, and Central Coast Journal, as well as Plein Air and  American Artist, have recently featured his work.

Blood’s current galleries include ArtHaus, 411 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA; Jones & Terwilliger Gallery, 6th between San Carlos & Dolores, Carmel, CA; K Nathan Gallery, 7723 Fay Avenue, La Jolla, CA; Michael Hollis Fine Art, 238 Pasadena Ave, South Pasadena, CA; Roger’s Gardens Fine Art Gallery, 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road, Corona del Mar, CA; The Garden Gallery, 530 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA; The Legacy Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ.

He has a beautiful website–simple and easy to use–even if little updating has occurred over the past three years it seems.–CLH
